Hi Product Hunt! I'm Riky 'ARevo Team', an indie developer from Spain, and this is my first launch here.
Why I built it: a file's extension is just a label, and labels lie. A ".pdf" can be an executable, and a single file can be valid as two formats at once (polyglots). I wanted a quick way to see what a file really is without installing anything. Some bad experiences opening files early on prompted me to investigate and create this project.
What ARevo Scanner does:
* Detects the real file type from its content using Magika, Google's open-source AI model
* Flags polyglot files
* Measures Shannon entropy to hint at packed or encrypted content
* Generates MD5 / SHA-1 / SHA-256 hashes with direct VirusTotal lookups
