The software experience Vision Pro remains a north star of what delightful UX & quality looks like in XR. We have a long way to go yet to reach the level of polish of visionOS, but we're happy to be shipping multiple early titles on this emerging platform, and we're very excited about the years ahead.
When building ProDocktive, our biggest inspiration was Apple itself. Apple hardware is incredible, but we felt there was a missing link when it came to interacting with external displays. Our goal was to create an app that feels like a native part of the Apple ecosystem. We heavily leaned into that modern, premium aesthetic and frictionless user experience. From the fluidity of the air mouse to the familiar, intuitive layout of the custom dock, we wanted ProDocktive to feel exactly like a tool Apple would have built themselves.
I chose Apple because it lets me build intelligence into a truly native app experience, instead of layering AI on top as a gimmick. Apple Intelligence helps me make Reference Board smarter in ways that feel useful and natural, especially around search, discovery, and organizing inspiration. Just as important, it lets me do that while staying true to what I want the product to be: native, private, elegant, and deeply integrated across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
my main hardware for all cases
Every inference stage in Ora — VAD, speech recognition, and the translator LLM — runs on MLX Swift. Native Metal acceleration on Apple Silicon is what makes sub-second, on-device streaming translation realistic. Swift-native inference also means no embedded Python runtime and zero bridging overhead between the UI and the models — a cleaner path than any llama.cpp or PyTorch-based alternative I tried.

The entire on-device transcription engine relies on Apple's speech-to-text models on macOS 26. Ten languages, zero internet required, zero cost per minute. This is the foundation that makes Silkwave Voice truly private.
