Most ambient audio tools loop compressed, static MP3 files in bloated Electron wrappers. Anahat (Sanskrit: अनाहत — "The Unstruck Sound") generates 100% of its audio in real-time using pure mathematical synthesis. It pairs a dual-channel binaural engine with 11 GPU-accelerated WebGL visualizer engines that react to sound. Route audio directly from browser, or sync your breathing to autonomic visual cadences. 100% local, private, free & open-source.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Jagadish, creator of Anahat.
💡 Why I built this
Like many of you, I spend 8–12 hours a day locked in deep focus or creative flow. Over the years, I tried dozens of focus and meditation sound generators. But they all suffered from the same frustrating problems:
They're just looping MP3s: After 20 minutes, your brain detects the repetitive acoustic seams.
Bloated memory hogs: Most desktop audio players are bundled in Electron wrappers consuming 500MB+ of RAM and draining laptop battery in the background.
Zero visual connection to acoustic physics: Cymatics—the science of visualizing sound through matter—has fascinated me since I first saw Ernst Chladni's 18th-century acoustic plate experiments.
I wanted something different: a pure, real-time mathematical synthesizer paired with real-time cymatic visualizers, packaged as a lightweight, background-friendly native workstation. That’s Anahat (अनाहत — Sanskrit for "The Unstruck Sound").
🔬 What makes Anahat different?
🎛️ 100% Real-Time Synthesis (Zero Loops, Zero MP3s): Every frequency, harmonic interval, and binaural beat is computed live via our dual-channel DSP engine. Includes a calibrated catalog of 30 research-backed presets (Schumann Earth resonances, Solfeggio, circadian rhythms, and clinical EEG targets from Delta to Gamma).
🌊 11 GPU-Accelerated Cymatics Engines: From Ernst Chladni nodal sand plates and Faraday liquid surface waves to 3D Winamp oscilloscopes, Warp Tunnels, and Ethereal Mist.
🖐️ Tactile Canvas Physics: The visualizers aren't video clips—they are live physics simulations. Click or tap anywhere on the Chladni plate to send a kinetic shockwave scattering the particles, then watch them smoothly migrate back onto mathematical nodal curves.
🥣 Tibetan Singing Bowl Physical Modeling: Synthesizes strikes with 5 distinct beating modal overtones, sacred respiration tuning, and dynamic carrier ducking.
🫁 Autonomic Breath Synchronizer: Guided Box (4-4-4-4), 4-7-8 Vagal, and Coherent breathing cadences integrated with ambient interval chimes.
🎙️ Live Mic Ingest Mode: Switch inputs with one hotkey (I) to pipe room audio or voice into the cymatics visualizers with zero feedback.
🦀 Lightweight Rust Core (< 25 MB): Built with Tauri v2. Uses zero-allocation WebGL pipelines that suspend CPU/GPU threads to zero when minimized to your system tray.
💻 Completely Free & Open Source
Anahat is 100% open-source under the MIT License. You can run the interactive Chladni simulator in your browser, or install native builds for macOS, Windows, and Linux.

I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and which visualizer engine or frequency preset you use for your flow state! What features or sound models should we build next?
🛠️ Need a Frontend Architect?
I built Anahat end-to-end to demonstrate what is possible when software pairs rigorous mathematical physics with uncompromising, bespoke brutalist design.
I work as a Frontend Architect specializing in building engaging, high-performance web and desktop applications (React, 3D WebGL / Three.js, low-latency DSP audio, canvas physics simulations, bespoke design systems, and cross-platform native architectures with Tauri v2 & Rust, and complex fullstack applications).
