Ambient Journal is a meditative, open-source space where the quiet act of reflection becomes a rich, multisensory event. Every keystroke triggers a generative audio engine, turning your daily entries into unique, real-time soundscapes.
The initial idea behind this project was to provide an auditory equivalent of Dark Mode for deep focus sessions. I would love to know if you have any other examples of projects or products that do the same?
Hello Product Hunt Gang! 👋
Journaling apps tend to feel like a chore: like homework with this pressure to produce "content" for yourself. I wanted to build something that turned reflection into aUDIBLE flow state.
Ambient Journal is a meditative space where your words become sound. Using a generative audio engine built with Tone.js, every keystroke triggers a unique, procedural note. The more you type, the more the soundscape evolves into a unique, tailored sound piece. There's some music theory behind the music composition technique, if that is your kind of thing, I'd be happy to chat more about that. Otherwise I won't bore you with that here.
Key Features:
1. Generative Audio Engine: Real-time harmony as you type.
2. Audio Export: Keep the "sound" of your thoughts as a high-quality recording.
3. Privacy First: It’s a local-first experience. Your thoughts stay yours.
I built this using React and Framer Motion because I wanted the UI to feel as organic as the audio. It’s also fully open-source—I’d love for other developers to play with the procedural audio logic!
I'll be here all day to answer questions. What does your day sound like? 🎹✨
