Hey everyone! 👋
I built Am I on Mute? because of one recurring frustration: every video call app hides the mute button the moment you switch windows. You're on a Zoom call, checking Slack or pulling up notes, and suddenly you have no idea if you're muted. Cue the classic "sorry, I was on mute" moment.
I wanted something dead simple. A floating mute button that stays visible on top of everything, even fullscreen apps. Click it to mute, click it to unmute. Red means muted, green means live. That's it.
It works at the macOS system level, so it's not tied to any single app. Zoom, Teams, Meet, Discord, FaceTime all just work, no plugins needed.
The free version gives you the floating button and menu bar controls. Pro (one-time $4.99, no subscription) adds push-to-talk, a speaking pulse indicator, multi-monitor support, keyboard shortcuts, and full customisation.
I'm a solo indie developer based in Sydney. This is my first Mac app and I'd love to hear what you think. Feedback, feature requests, anything. Happy to answer questions here!
