Moving the hand along the surface in a straight line may be tricky for some people
Pros:
It solves a very common problem for a lot of people, and is so simple to use
Cons:
The user needs to move their hand also in a straight line along the surface..which may be tricky

I would say that in the case of the AirMeasure app the AR-technology played the role of disruptor: before we had a pair consisted of a measuring device and measurable object. And it was necessary that a living reality should interpose in order for measurement relations to acquire a different dimension)) We can talk about some inaccuracy or the excessive complexity of working with the interface but the most important thing has already happened - a new context has emerged that changed relations with surrounding world
Pros:
well developed (and still quickly developing) tool with innovative and very promising approach
Cons:
temporary and often connected with user experience inaccuracy of measurments

Sometimes the number of functions and features compared to similar applications seems redundant. But at the same time there is an impression that this is the basis for an entire platform for future measurements and calculations in a variety of situations. It is especially interesting opportunity and desire to use numerical methods and approaches in areas as far from high accuracy as culture, art and different everyday situations
@dmovsis it can be very accurate once you know how to use it -- there is a triangulation feature in the point&shoot mode - i.e. first take your measurement then move to a different position and correct your measurement by dragging the start and end point
@fxcutz@jake_nasol_loria Gold Master is the final version of software ready for release to manufacturing. Now that iOS 11 is officially live to the public, the GM question doesn't apply.
@jake_nasol_loria to suppor these features you need an A9 Chipset or above = a 6S or greater. thanks

@tadwook okay. Thank you for the help. I own the iPhone 7plus model with the iOS11 update. I'm based here in the Philippines. I'll try to figure out what's wrong with my phone. Thanks again.
@liza__schwartz it uses Apple's ARKit framework to get the precise position and orientation of the iPhone in space. It does this using a combination of info from the camera and sensors such as the accelerometer and gyroscope. Using this together with some post-processing and computer vision tricks, we can measure distances between things in a scene :)
