A macOS menu bar app that keeps your agents AI awake even if with lid closed. No more keeping your laptop half-open or carrying it around in weird ways. Stop this madness π
ββοΈ, close the lid.

Agents Never Sleep
Hi product hunt, thanks everyone for the support.
I built Agents Never Sleep to help me control the sleep behaviour on my Mac without getting lost in settings or needing a terminal.
Made a cute little friend in the menu bar as a bonus!
Glad to see i'm not the only one looking for this :)

I've done the "prop the lid open a centimeter with a folded sticky note" move more times than I'd like to admit, so this solves a real problem. curious how this is different from just running caffeinate in a loop or using something like Amphetamine though, is the "control the sleep behaviour" part doing something smarter than just preventing sleep, like actually distinguishing which processes count as an active agent vs idle background stuff
Agents Never Sleep
@galdayanΒ caffeinate prevents the screen from dimming, but it doesn't prevent the sleeping when the lid gets closed. Amphetamine can get you there, but I found it quite junky to use. Just to note - all of this can be achieved via terminal commands, and I am in fact showing them in the FAQ section on the website.
I found that It gets annoying over time and I simply got tired of doing it over and over again. Nothing smart is going on with the sleep prevention implementation, it's just a more convenient way to flip the modes back and forth which I end up doing all the time.

@alekseyrozhΒ fair, that actually answers it better than a "smarter" answer would have. honestly the annoyance-of-doing-it-manually part is the real product here, most of us have the terminal commands memorized and still don't use them because remembering to flip the mode every single time is the actual friction, not the technical capability

Stop this madness, close the lid is exactly the energy haha, I've seen laptops propped open with books to keep an overnight job alive. Does it stop the agents gracefully when the battery gets low, or do they just die mid-task? That's the 3am failure I'd worry about.
