Shoppers are starting to ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Mode what to buy, and agents can now add to cart and check out. I wanted to know how many stores those agents can actually buy from, so I built Neryn and ran its free audit on 113 well-known Indian brands.
The audit checks three things:
1. Can the agents get in? robots.txt and firewalls, tested by visiting as the real agents.
2. Can they understand your products? The structured data on real product pages.
3. Can they check out? The Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) that Google's agents use.
A few things the benchmarks turned up:
• 13 of 113 stores turned away at least one AI agent, and 6 turned away every visit.
• 20 of the 95 stores we could check publish no product structured data, and 7 more only on some pages.
• 37 of 109 stores have no UCP profile, so agents can't check out with them.
On Shopify, the Neryn app then fixes titles, categories, options, descriptions and image alt text, only after you approve each change, with undo for 90 days. For what only you know, like barcodes, it asks you.
