I maintain AEP and I built it out of glue fatigue: every team running coding or ops agents rebuilds the same per-agent integrations for observing what agents do, approving what they ask, and cancelling what they should not finish. AEP makes that one protocol: one envelope, a mandatory set of 14 event types, four transports, and an acknowledged control channel back. What exists today, stated plainly: a nine-document v0.1 draft suite, a conformance suite arbitrated by a golden corpus and two independent runners, twelve agent adapters, TypeScript and Python SDKs, and a fleet dashboard built purely on the protocol. This is a call for collaboration more than a launch. The mandatory event set freezes after review, so the most valuable thing you can do here is break it: read AEP-0002 and file an issue. Second most valuable: if you use one of the twelve agents daily, run a guided session and send the transcript. Demo is one command in the reference repo (Node >= 22, nothing else). I would rather have one sharp issue than a hundred upvotes.
