We started building Affirmspace because many LGBTQ+ individuals still struggle to find digital spaces that feel genuinely safe, emotionally supportive, and inclusive. Existing social platforms often prioritize engagement over emotional wellbeing, which can leave people feeling isolated, overwhelmed, or misunderstood. Affirmspace is being designed as a more human-centered platform focused on meaningful connection, emotional wellness, safer interaction, and supportive community experiences for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and non-binary individuals. While working on the platform, we focused heavily on inclusive design, calming user experiences, privacy, safety, and creating an environment where people can connect authentically without fear of judgment.
