I built AdsNotch around a simple thought: if advertisers are paying for your attention, why shouldn't you get a share?
AdsNotch is a native macOS app that creates a small advertising surface on your screen. It stays out of the way while you work, and can seamlessly expand into richer ads at appropriate moments.
Advertisers pay AdsNotch, and part of that revenue goes directly to the people actually seeing the ads.
I've spent a lot of time trying to make the experience feel like part of macOS rather than a banner pasted on top of it, especially the animations between the compact notch and larger formats.
This is the first public version, so I'd especially love feedback on the concept, the notch experience, and what would make you comfortable keeping something like this on your Mac.

Can users choose which types of adds they want to see?
Hey Edward, thanks for the question! Not at the moment, but it's definitely on my roadmap!
I believe ad relevance is key to creating a better experience for everyone. Users should see ads that actually match their interests and needs, rather than random promotions they have no interest in. At the same time, advertisers benefit from reaching people who are genuinely interested in what they offer, leading to better engagement and more meaningful results.
Giving users more control over the types of ads they see is definitely something I want to introduce as I keep improving AdsNotch!
