I m the developer behind ADCode. I published a fuller explanation of the tradeoffs in our free Windows/Linux code editor, and I d like feedback from developers considering this model.
The editor includes terminals, Git, workspace search, and AI assistance. AI uses your own provider key, so provider usage can cost extra. Occasional sponsored cards fund the editor, and developers receive 50% of eligible ad revenue. Credits depend on demand and eligible impressions, rather than being guaranteed income.
The article separates editor costs from model costs, explains the revenue-share arithmetic, and distinguishes ad-targeting context from what you choose to send to an AI provider:

I believe coding should be an awesome experience—and launching, building, and sharing projects should be free.
Too many creative projects and products fail, not because the ideas aren't good enough, but because developers don't have enough capital to bring them to life.
Every day, open-source developers contribute their valuable time, skills, and creativity for free. I believe great work deserves to be rewarded. Creative ideas should have the opportunity to generate value, and talented people should have the opportunity to rise.
ADCode is our answer.
We're building a simpler way for developers to create, launch, and earn from what they build—without money standing in the way of their ideas.
We're launching ADCode, and we're waiting for brilliant minds to rise, build what they believe in, and do what they were meant to do.
Build. Launch. Earn. Rise.
Welcome to ADCode.
