Hello Product Hunt community! 👋 As an avid user of ChatGPT for literature reviews, I kept running into a frustrating issue: AI Hallucinations. ChatGPT loves to invent realistic-looking DOIs, authors, and paper titles. Even worse are "Franken-references"—real DOIs wrapped around completely fake titles. Manually checking every single citation was killing my workflow. That’s why I built Academic Truth. 🟢 Traffic Light Badges: Instantly see if a citation is verified (Green), a Franken-ref (Yellow), or completely fake (Red). 💡 Auto-Repair Engine: If a reference is fake, our system reverse-searches Semantic Scholar to suggest the actual paper you were looking for. 📑 Clean BibTeX Export: Download only the verified, clean references directly into Zotero or Mendeley. ⚙️ How to try it instantly: 1. Go to our GitHub link, click the green "Code" button and select "Download ZIP". Unzip it on your PC. 2. Open Chrome and go to chrome://extensions/ 3. Enable "Developer mode" (top right). 4. Click "Load unpacked" (top left) and select the unzipped folder. 5. Refresh your ChatGPT page and watch it work! Finally gave this a spin on a messy reference list and it caught a couple of broken DOIs I had missed, plus the BibTeX export was actually clean enough to drop straight into Overleaf.
