Hey folks, I'm Colton (AKA TuxedoMakes), an artist, maker, engineer, and the creator of WLEDger. I have hundreds of electronic components in my lab from various open-source hardware projects I design and release. I constantly found myself over-buying parts I already owned or spending 20 minutes digging through drawers just to find one specific component. I wanted an inventory management system that would help me solve this problem I had with managing and locating my physical things. Existing software was expensive, closed-source, or lacked the features I cared about as a hobbyist. I didn't want a tool that just told me "This part is in Bin A1". I wanted something interactive that actually showed me where the part was. Enter WLEDger (WLED + Ledger). It's an open-source inventory management and location system designed for makers, workshops, and everyone in between. It integrates with WLED to light up LEDs where your parts are located. When you search for a component, the specific bin on your storage rack glows, showing you exactly where to grab your part. What Makes WLEDger Awesome: - Visual Part Locating: Use WLED controllers and LED strips/matrices to map your physical storage. - Fast & Lightweight: Built with Go, SQLite, and HTMX. It performs great on any server hardware (Raspberry Pi, micro-servers... whatever you want). - Docker Ready: Self-host it in seconds. - AI Prompt Templates: No API keys required. Just copy/paste your prompt (inventory included) into your favorite LLM for project inspiration (e.g., "What can I build with these parts?"). I've found this useful to get inspired when I have the itch to make something, but need a little spark. - Multi-User: Role-based access control for labs or shared setups. Optional Guest mode allows anyone with access to your network to view and locate parts. - Build Guide Included: Open-source PCB files and storage container recommendations are in the GitHub repo to help you build your physical setup. That said, WLEDger is built to be flexible. If you can imagine the setup, WLEDger can support it. Updates: I'm working on open-source hardware kits so folks can get set up without ordering custom PCBs (you won't even need to configure WLEDger manually!).
