WindDown

Reclaim your time outside work!

Your brain won't let you stop working. Even when you close your laptop, you open Slack "one more time." WindDown closes your work apps at 9:30 PM. Write down what's on your mind, then it's done. Free, open source, built with Claude Code.

What do you think? …

Arnab Ghosh
Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Arnab, and I built WindDown because I physically couldn't stop working at night. The problem: Close laptop at 9:30 PM → Open Slack on phone → One notification → One email → It's 11 PM and I'm exhausted but can't shut down. You go to bed with work looping in your head. You miss time with people you care about. A few weeks ago, I hit my breaking point and thought: enough. I need an actual boundary. What WindDown does: At 9:30 PM (or your time): Asks "What's still on your mind?" You write it down: One sentence. Saved for tomorrow. Apps close: Slack, Gmail, Notion, VS Code—everything. Actually closed. The workday is over. No sneaking back in. The boundary is real. If you're struggling to disconnect after work, try it. It's not perfect. Miles away from perfect. But it works for me, and maybe it'll work for you. Let me know what you think. Feedback welcome.

The feature that forces you to "write down what's on your mind" before shutting down is the real genius here. Usually, I keep checking Slack at night not because I want to work, but because I am afraid I will forget a task for tomorrow. Writing it down creates a psychological closure that actually allows my brain to disconnect.
