I read this a couple years ago and found it riveting. I couldn't put it down. It explained things about the body that allowed me to understand it in ways I had never thought of before. Enlightening.

Has anyone read this and 4 hour body? Keen to see what people think of both, they may not be related at all!

@bentossell I'm pretty sure Tim Ferriss is very familiar with the arguments in this book and may even quote it in 4-Hour Body. As I recall Taubes is very concerned with the way refined carbs changes the metabolism, similar to Ferriss. Taubes doesn't talk about Ferriss' more exotic prescriptions. His argument begins with pointing out that when cancer tumors grow you don't blame the food, the energy that enables them to grow, you blame the genetic mutation that causes them to replicate out of control. Also, when kids grow a ton in adolescence they need to eat a lot, but the eating isn't what makes them grow. It's their body has decided to grow and the eating is a side effect. If that's true to kids and cancer then why to we blame food for obesity?
