Wakatta turns real Japanese podcasts into tappable lessons: tap any word for its meaning + furigana, mark what you miss, review it later with spaced repetition, and an AI sensei explains the rest. Free, no account. iOS & Android.

Saving custom vocabulary decks would be huge, like being able to tag words by show or topic so I can review only the slang from a specific podcast later instead of one giant mixed list.
@bedriyeenyv1wb Hi, thanks for the feedback! Yeah, custom vocabulary decks are coming!
Tapping words mid-listen for furigana and meanings without losing the flow is genuinely useful, and the spaced repetition catching what I actually missed makes it feel like real study instead of busywork.
@tahadvwa "Real study instead of busywork" is literally the line I keep in my head while building this 🙏 That's why the review deck only ever resurfaces words you tapped and missed — never a generic frequency list. You end up drilling your own gaps, from shows you actually chose to listen to.
The tap-any-word-to-translate thing is honestly so smooth, feels way less clunky than copying into a dictionary every five seconds. Surprised how well the furigana works on tricky kanji.
@pelinxjgHa — "copying into a dictionary every five seconds" is the exact pain that made me build this. That little context-switch quietly kills your listening every time. And yeah, the furigana on gnarly kanji was the hardest part to get right, so that means a lot.
