Hey Product Hunt! I'm excited to introduce Volu.dev, a tool to streamline spatial web development. I’ve spent nearly a decade working in the XR industry, and while the hardware has improved, the developer tools have lagged behind. We at Volu have set out to fix that. Before now, building a WebXR experience was exhausting. You’d need to spin up a local server, figure out SSL certificates, find your IP address or work out port forwarding, and then type your IP into the browser on your headset, which is different on every network. 

And that’s just the initial set up, debugging introduces a whole new set of issues. You could either use a WebXR emulator to approximate usage, or tether your headset to your computer, pull up the browser inspector on your 2D screen, and jump back and forth endlessly from screen to headset as you try to debug your app. These issues fade away with Volu.dev, here are some of it’s best features: Direct P2P connection from VS Code to headset: No more local servers, no more cables, and no more juggling IPs whenever you switch networks. Just type app.volu.dev into your browser, hit connect in VS Code and your set! Native dev tools: We inject dev tools right into your WebXR experience. Check the console output, inspect your scene, and track performance without ever taking off your headset. Platform agnostic: It’s all web! So we work on any headset with a browser. Hi @michaelthatsit, I just read about Volu.dev and I’m really excited to try it out! As someone who has dabbled in spatial web development, I know how tedious and complicated it can be to set everything up and debug effectively. Volu.dev is exactly what the XR industry needs. The direct P2P connection from VS Code to the headset, eliminating local servers and cables, is a huge win. The native dev tools for in-headset inspection and debugging are super convenient + the platform-agnostic approach makes it versatile for any headset with a browser. I’m excited to try Volu.dev for easy in-headset inspecting, debugging, and tweaking code. This will streamline development and boost efficiency. @belabohlender Tools have become the bottleneck. Hardware is getting cheaper, better, and faster but we're using the same tools we've been using since 2012, it's time we brought them into the future 🚀

@matt_cool We're just getting started! my next personal feature request is frame lines to help keep demos in frame while recording. So frustrating to think you got everything only to find out you didn't.

When I first got my Quest 2 it felt like a game changer, such a cool medium. I immediately wanted to start making things for it, but the process was so cumbersome compared to my usual web dev stack that I lost steam. The headset gathered dust for a while. Volu is bridging that gap! It will unlock a ton of creativity and experimentation in XR by providing immediate feedback, faster iteration, and the kind of DX web developers take for granted. XR hardware continues to make steady progress, it's time for more helpful tooling to take advantage of it.

Looks like a game-changer for spatial web developers! The ability to inspect, debug, and tweak code directly from within a VR/AR headset could significantly streamline the development process. Supporting three.js, AFrame, and MRjs right out of the gate is also smart!
