Today we’re excited to launch Autopilot: A managed service for automatically reducing your AWS spend, starting with EC2. No infrastructure changes are needed and you can get going in a few clicks. Since working at DigitalOcean and AWS, I have seen how difficult it is for customers to get visibility on what they’re paying for with cloud services. Cost visibility and transparency is the first problem we tackled with Vantage. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive since our initial launch and we launched Cost Recommendations, Financial Planning, and Issues to help users get the most out of Vantage since then. Until this point, customers always had to take action themselves to save money…and what we’ve found is no one wants to manage this themselves. Autopilot is the first time we have been able to *automatically* save customers money with no action needed by them. Autopilot buys reserved instances based on compute usage and automatically sells out of them if usage patterns change - resulting in up to 50% discounts. Vantage takes a small cut of savings that comes your way each month so if we don’t find any savings, you don’t pay us a dime. I think Autopilot can be a very helpful product for makers of all sizes who are cost-conscious. Great idea! At bubbles we have a completely serverless backend (AWS lambda, dynamodb, etc.) -- would Vantage be helpful for us too?

@tom4 Thanks and good question! Autopilot currently only handles EC2 but we have plans for expanding beyond that. That being said, we have automated cost recommendations when you sign up and connect your AWS account. For serverless, we'll provide you with a Savings Plan recommendation which is the savings mechanism for Lambda and Fargate. The discounts there are a bit less but still can be 10-20%.
