Solving the social media cold start problem (for free!)

Upvote.Team creates authentic community support for creators starting from zero. Our reciprocal system ensures genuine engagement: support creators across platforms (Reddit, LinkedIn, Instagram etc.) and earn Spotlight to promote your content. No bots, no superficial clicks, no way of purchasing spotlights - just real creators helping each other break through the algorithmic cold start. Perfect for bloggers, Linkedin creators, and indie developers who can't justify paid ads for side projects.

What do you think? …

Hey hunters! 👋 I spent hundreds of $ on LinkedIn and Instagram ads for my last project. and got maybe 5 customers in total. That's when I realized the cold start problem is brutal for indie makers. So I built Upvote.Team which is not another engagement pod, but a genuine support network for creators starting from zero. The twist? You have to actually support other creators' content (across Reddit, LinkedIn, Instagram etc.) to earn credits for promoting your own. Yes, it's still reciprocal engagement. But with anti-gaming measures like rate limits and verification challenges, we're pushing for quality over quick clicks. Because let's be honest - even imperfect community support beats screaming into the void. Everyone gets free Spotlights at signup to try it out. Would love your brutal feedback on whether this actually solves a real problem or if I'm just solving my own frustrations 😅 AMA about the tech stack, anti-abuse measures, or why I think this is different from traditional pods!

Interesting approach. The verification challenges are a smart way to keep things honest. How you’re planning to prevent low-effort interactions over time? Where do you see this working better, for certain platforms rather than other ones?

@ale206 thanks for your feedback! The quality of engagement is hard to measure, I mean comments are more worth than a simple upvote but spamy comments are not. Something we have to approach indeed! My gut feeling is that the platform works best for Reddit, LinkedIn, Threads, X and Insta. For YouTube and TikTok it will work too but viewing time (on Youtube especially) is much more important than interaction. Also for launch sites like PH or uneed.best it will work great I guess.
