Millions of bags are delayed, lost, or damaged every year, and travelers are forced to drag heavy luggage through airports, taxis, hotels, and city streets. We built TrunkMoves to solve that problem. TrunkMoves lets travelers ship their luggage and personal effects ahead of their trip using secure shipping trunks designed specifically for modern parcel networks. Instead of struggling with oversized suitcases or paying airline baggage fees, you can send your belongings door-to-door and travel lighter. Each TrunkMoves shipment uses a reinforced trunk designed to hold roughly the equivalent of 2–3 suitcases of personal effects. The trunk acts as a durable container that protects your items and ensures predictable shipping costs. Once packed, the trunk moves through trusted carrier networks and is delivered directly to your destination — whether that’s a hotel, residence, or relocation address. TrunkMoves was originally inspired by the classic travel trunks people used during the golden age of travel. Back then, trunks allowed travelers to move their belongings safely over long journeys. We modernized that idea for today’s logistics networks. But this isn’t just about luggage. Under the hood, TrunkMoves is part of a larger concept we call parcelized shipping — the idea that small shipments can be containerized and moved more efficiently through parcel and air cargo networks. The same approach that works for personal luggage can also help students moving abroad, expats relocating internationally, digital nomads traveling long term, and even small businesses shipping goods globally. Our mission is simple: Make moving personal belongings internationally as easy as sending a package.

👋 Hi Product Hunt! I’m John, founder of TrunkMoves.

The idea for TrunkMoves came from a simple frustration: traveling with luggage hasn’t really improved in decades. We still drag heavy suitcases through airports, taxis, hotels, and city streets — and millions of bags are delayed or lost every year.

I started wondering: Why are we still checking bags at all?

What if your luggage could simply travel ahead of you?

That question led to TrunkMoves.

TrunkMoves lets travelers ship their luggage and personal effects ahead of their trip using durable shipping trunks designed specifically for modern parcel networks. Instead of hauling multiple suitcases through the airport, you can send your belongings door-to-door and travel lighter.

Each trunk holds roughly the equivalent of 2–3 suitcases, giving travelers a simple and secure way to move their essentials internationally or across the country.

Along the way, we realized something bigger. This approach doesn’t just help travelers — it also works for:

• international students
• expats relocating abroad
• digital nomads
• small shipments of personal belongings

In a way, we’re bringing back the classic travel trunk, but redesigned for modern logistics networks.

Our goal is simple: Make moving personal belongings as easy as shipping a package.

One thing we discovered while building TrunkMoves: international shipping actually turned out to be the biggest opportunity.

Travelers, students, and expats often struggle with luggage limits and airline baggage fees. Shipping belongings ahead can remove that friction entirely.
