The icon looks like a sillier version of the Drupal logo. (This is more an observation not implying any criticism.) Would like to see the app store description better describe the experience; the way it reads now feels too generic, as if it could be describing any gaming app (just remove the word trivia…) It's also unclear from the verbiage how social it is; how well does the app integrate *social* ie. not social "media" but how friends really use technology to connect with each other.

I've been trying to avoid games and then @imconnieq pulled me into Trivia Crack. It's even harder to escape when it's available basically everywhere: iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Amazon, and Facebook.

i still don t get why this quiz app has become such a hit. specially when you see that it got big really only in a few countries

@OurielOhayon Yeah, what is crazy is that it has been out since Oct. 2013.

Agreed. Being someone that took a stab at the social trivia game space with Trivia party, I'm very impressed with their traction. They definitely did something right.

@KristoferTM something right only in the USA? why? all other countries are just "top 50/100" the USA #1 for weeks....

@OurielOhayon Good question. Having no insight into their marketing, maybe they spent a decent amount of Ad bucks just in the US and it's paid off only here. Maybe since it's social, the invitation system has just naturally grow by US friends inviting mostly other US friends. Could be plenty of other reasons but just some ideas

@KristoferTM buying ads does not get you this sort of traction...the only thing that i can think of is a major push by prescription marketing on youtube from a big influencer or something

@OurielOhayon Yea I'm with you there. Could buy them initial visibility but maintaining it seems to be the age old question of what makes a hit a hit. Looks like it wasn't until March that the app started appearing in Overall Top Apps is US (funny how the version history shows the March update being "translate all the questions into other languages that you are fluent in" only adding fuel to your question). Aug 30th looks like a turning point in the app too. Went from nose diving to right back up. Nothing substantial posted in the version history there though. @MaximoCavazzani what's the secret?!
Ouriel Ohayon@ourielohayon · CodenameDjango, CEO/ isai (VC)
@MaximoCavazzani @KristoferTM exactly. this is typical pattern for a growth driven by a network effect where the starting point is not ad buying related

I still think QuizUp is a better app
