In a Rare Move, Transatomic Power Unveils Technical Details of Its Modular Nuclear Reactor
Neutron Bytes: Transatomic Releases Details of New Reactor Design Advanced reactor developer Transatomic Power Corporation has released a new technical white paper detailing its advanced nuclear reactor design. In a business world which almost always zealously guards the integrity of its intellectual property, the action is an unprecedented step for an early-stage nuclear reactor developer.
Start-up: Transatomic Power Wants to Build a Better Reactor
It's pretty straightforward to get some coders together in a spare room to create a software start-up. Should a nascent company have hardware inclinations, it might set out to make a consumer electronics gadget with an assist from Kickstarter. And then there's Transatomic Power Corp., of Cambridge, Mass., which is trying to build a nuclear reactor.

Quite interesting. I have a few questions though. The comparison chart doesn't include any renewables, which are becoming cheaper and cheaper. I'm assuming this is because nuclear are base plants and compete more directly with coal and gas, however this typical scenario is evolving fast as well (with storage and smart grids). Second, I viewed the website on mobile so maybe I didn't see it, but what about nuclear waste and the supply of uranium. Both of these are often very carbon intensive or environmentally and socially dangerous. I'd like to have a more detailed account of this. I'm excited someone is still interested in nuclear because I think there's potential there but we need to be 100% open about the costs and benefits. Wish we had a maker here 😆

I think this is so cool. Transatomic is building new types of nuclear reactors that use molten salt (as opposed to light & heavy-water reactors used today). Molten salt reactors can run at higher temperatures & more efficiently than water-cooled reactors (which means more electricity!). 🏭🔋
What humanity really really needs is westerners to fork over uranium/plutonium access.... to countries with higher melanin counts....
Half the waste does not make this "Green tech". What´s the PH policy for misleading labels?
Badass from the future
