What do you think? …

This reminds me of Circa (cc @mg) but with a historical focus. I have a feeling @nbashaw might like this.
P.S. history buffs may also like Hardcore History, a podcast about the past.

@mg @nbashaw @rrhoover Timeline is the actualization of this new trend in 'atomizing' the news, which Circa popularized. The big wrinkle on the news/information game is the key historical facets and a UX that makes jumping around the 'timeline' a lot more fluid. I.e. read what historical aspect interests you.

Super smooth UX - would function beautifully with @medium

You're right, @rrhoover, I do like this :) Visually, it's really well executed, which definitely makes me want to spend more time in the app. But I think the overall idea of showing the history behind current news is a great one, and I dig the timeline format. My only gripe is that the timelines are super long. There should be more news stories, and the timeline should be easier to get through quickly. If they did that, I'd make this one of my primary news apps. Also, not a fan of the name Timeline. I am 100% sure that in 2 weeks I will think to myself "what was that cool app that showed you the history behind news stories? i can't remember the name." That being said, this is much needed, and I hope it helps to make people smarter and more curious about the world :) That's my personal mission in life and I support anyone who's taking a shot at it

A really elegant way to understand how today's news got here. Also, the editorial voice can be at times quirky and entertaining; keeps it engaging. I would love to see the Timeline concept applied to even more categories of news.

Brilliant execution. No one managed to get that right to date. bringing the context in perspective vs focus on the news is what makes this app unique and useful

I LOVE this app. Been using the beta for a while. The historical context on news as well as just news stories selected I consider top notch. The "Timeline" view seems like a great first step but is hopefully just a preview of a richer experience. REALLY want each "card" to be sharable. More than once have come across great content I want to tweet out directly.

Is this the company that went to battle with Facebook? http://www.theverge.com/2013/5/3...
Spencer Chen
@drew No, not the same one. This is the new one that will battle Facebook? ;)
