Let me share a bit of the story behind this system.
I came to understand the importance of meta-thinking while studying the mindset and thinking process of inventors. Real invention rarely happens by simply reacting to problems. It happens when someone steps back, re-examines causes, and reframes the situation from a higher perspective.
That realization also helped me understand something interesting from mythology. Athena represents both wisdom and invention. Creation and wisdom come from the same kind of thinking — the ability to step outside immediate reactions and see deeper connections.
In many ways, meta-thinking is the highest capability humans can exercise. It's the kind of thinking associated with the prefrontal cortex — the part of the brain that allows us to reflect, question causes, and redesign our actions.
But most of the time we are trapped in reactive patterns driven by the limbic system.
Escaping that loop is the real “escape room” for the human mind.
This Notion system was designed to help people practice that shift — moving from reactive thinking to reflective thinking through writing and structured questioning.
Try replacing your usual journaling or note-taking habit with this template.
@hye_on How’s this Notion template different from the rest? And what’s meta-thinking anyway?
