The Weather Recap

Weather — reviewed, revisited, and recapped

The Weather Recap is an iOS weather app focused on recent reality, not just future forecasts. It shows past 7 days completed daily conditions, compares past forecasts to what actually happened, and visualizes accuracy across temperature, wind, precipitation, and snow. The app is designed to be transparent, lightweight, and easy to interpret, with clear charts, tables, and daily summaries.

I built The Weather Recap because I like weather and I really wanted to know trivial data like “how much it actually rained yesterday?” or “how hot did it really get?” and I couldn’t find a simple answer without owning a weather station. Then the idea snowballed a tiny bit because I was also curious about quantifying how accurate the weather forecasts actually are. It feels like a running joke that forecasts are often wrong, so I wanted a way to quantify that . Most of the work on this app ended up being about timing and trust: deciding when a day is truly “complete,” snapshotting forecasts so comparisons are fair, and how to show differences without turning everything into stats overload. It’s a small, solo project built out of curiosity and the belief that if I had these questions, others probably do too. Right now it's only on iOS (actual job constraints). I have dreams and aspirations for it but I need to hit some milestones first.
