The Pragmatic Programmers publish high quality professional software development books. They've recently converted all of them for Medium's subscription service. Now you can have access to the full catalog for $5/month.

This states that “all” their books have been added to Mefium, and other sources state their entire catalogue has been added. This doesn’t seem to be the case though. Most notably, The Pragmatic Programmer itself is not present. Is the intention that all their books will be available there over time? Will The Pragmatic Programmer come to Medium? Or, is it always going to be a subset of their books? I’ve been struggling to find an official announcement of this, which might include these details.

@lukens Yeah, caveats are that The Pragmatic Programmer is not actually their book. It's published by a different publisher unfortunately. So they don't have rights to do something like this with it even though they are the authors. And then much tinier caveats are that we didn't do the beta books because they change so much. But when they turn into fully published books we'll get them onto Medium. And then last, we won't do books that don't display at least moderately well on Medium. So far there's just been one of those, The Quantum Computing book. Medium won't do small inline images and that book is filled with those.

This was a collaboration between Medium and The Prags and I'm the "maker" who helped with the book conversion. I'm happy to see all these books get more reach. Also, importantly, I think this demonstrates the promise of Medium's subscription model. As they get more subscribers they invest more in the value of their subscription. Does anyone have questions about the Prags or what it's like to have reference books on Medium?
