Thawe is a free mobile app launching January 20th that makes professional networking feel human. Endless feeds, influencers, spammy messages, and AI-generated content have made networking unnecessarily hard. Create a profile in under 90 seconds, then discover relevant people nearby or aligned with your interests. No feeds, no noise, just real people and real conversations. Thawe isn’t meant to replace in-person networking, but to support it, by helping you find the right people to meet.
Hello everyone, I’m Jeffrey, an engineer and cofounder of Thawe. We, as a team, met in college at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and have been working on this since September of 2024. We are extremely proud to announce that we will be launching on Jan 20th, 2025.
We built Thawe because professional networking in the modern age has lost its most important element: humanity. What should feel natural and meaningful has become cold and transactional. We were tired of sending awkward cold messages, struggling to find genuine ways to connect, and drowing in endless feeds of AI-generated content about people bragging they made 1 Million dollars this month. Too many platforms feel like a loud conference room where everyone is talking, but no one is actually connecting. We wanted something simpler, a way to see the people nearby and connect with them directly.
Most importantly, we want to foster a community of people that help each other, and Thawe should not be a substitute for in-person networking, but a supplement for it. We believe that the most human thing of all is an in-person conversation.
What Thawe will do on launch (Jan 20th, 2025):
Guide users through a fast, intentional onboarding experience that takes under 90 seconds and captures who they are, what they’re working on, and what they’re looking for, without the friction of a traditional professional profile.
Help users discover and connect with relevant people by swiping through profiles filtered by focus, skills, and industry.
Enable direct, one-to-one messaging so users can start real conversations with people they want to network with.
Support networking through events by:
Allowing discovery of local business/startup/tech events
Display of other users that are attending
Allow users to search the entire platform by name, organization, etc. to easily find and reconnect with people on the platform.
What’s coming next:
Instant Coffee Chat/Virtual meeting invitations
Better filters (stage, tech stack, hiring vs. cofounder vs. collaboration)
Smarter recommendations and matching over time
Community chats
I’d love feedback from anyone that
feels burned out on other professional networking platforms,
goes to events and wish they could meet people before it starts,
or are building something and want easy casual intros.
