Talkey - Learn, Practice & Speak

We started Talkey because we believe learning a language requires both the academic foundations and consuming content for native speakers. Many language apps are so gamified that they start to feel more like games than actual learning tools. Points, leaderboards, and bright colors are all well and good, but they lack depth. You might learn a few words, but you never develop any real language skills. On the other hand, just drilling grammar without real-world use quickly gets dull and disconnected from how people actually speak and write. True progress only happens when you understand the structure - grammar and rules and also use the language, right from the start, with authentic content. For example, you can’t really learn Japanese just by watching anime. The grammar and nuance go way beyond what comes across on TV. But it’s just as easy to get bored and stuck if you’re only studying kanji. Talkey brings both worlds together. You get full grammar courses from absolute beginner up to advanced, but also have an immersive reading tool where you can tap any word to save it for review, and real native audio to practice your listening.
