Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Roan, and I built SyncUp because I was tired of the friction involved in watching videos with friends who live far away. The problem: Existing watch party tools either require everyone to have accounts, only work with one platform (like Netflix), have laggy sync, or bundle in features I didn't need (I already use Discord for chat). What I built: SyncUp focuses on doing one thing really well - keeping video playback perfectly synchronized. It works with YouTube, Twitch, Kick, and over 1000 HTML5 video sites natively. Want to watch Netflix or Disney+ together? Install the free browser extension. Key features: - No signup required (create a room in ~10 seconds) - Real-time sync within 200ms using Socket.IO - 1000+ supported websites - Browser extension for streaming services - P2P local file sharing (stream files directly from your device) - Role-based permissions and playlist management - Works on any device with a modern browser Design choices: - No built-in chat/voice - pairs with Discord, FaceTime, Zoom, etc. (better performance, privacy, and lets you use tools you already trust) - Browser-based, not a native app - instant access, automatic updates, universal compatibility - Support for 1000+ sites means you're never locked into one platform What's next: I'm continuously improving sync performance, adding platform support, and making the experience smoother. This is a solo project, so I'm moving thoughtfully rather than fast. Try it out and let me know what you think! What features would make this more useful for your watch parties? What platforms should I prioritize? Thanks for checking it out, and happy watching! 🎬
