Howdy folks, this is a tool I built to easily summarise webpages and pdfs. It helps me to quickly get a sense for an article. Then I can decide whether to read further or not. This is the first time I've built an express app and I'm beginner-intermediate coder, but using chatGPT made this a lot quicker than otherwise. Some notes on the build: - gpt-3.5-turbo for summarising - mozilla for getting web pages in readable format - cheerio for getting text from pdfs Let me know your feedback and suggestions for improvements! It's an alpha product and there are some edge cases that aren't fully working... and my error handling needs to be improved. Cheers, Ronan

It would be extremely cool if I can just select text on an article and it will get me a summary right on the website!

@igorpavlov interesting, I suppose I'd have to build it as a browser plugin then?

@ronankmcgovern This might be one of the ways to do it I reckon, there a many of extensions out there even launched this week, but I guess it comes to the best and clickest UI. Anyway, just an idea, not validated.

It's great to see how you've used ChatGPT to create a useful tool for summarizing webpages and pdfs. I appreciate that you're open about it being an alpha product and that there are areas to improve upon. Have you considered adding any other features to the tool aside from summarization, or do you plan on focusing on improving the summarization process for now?
Ronan McGovern
@cata thanks! thinking of focusing on summarising - maybe for patents or academic stuff. lmk if there's something you would find useful.

This is a wonderful effort. I usually find it hard to glance all the article espcially in one session. This might surely help. Checking it out!

In a world that buries me in lengthy documents, crisp summaries are what I live for 😂 Just tried this, and yes, this was so convenient! Congratulations on the launch!
