Andy here, after working in the management consulting industry many years, I have found that sometimes it's just difficult for leaders, executives, and managers to do strategic planning and making decisions. I can't blame them. It's difficult to balance many factors such as budget, quality, features, and timeline with the goal to deliver high-quality solutions that delight their customers.
Management consultants love to use 2x2 matrix (such as SWOT analysis, Gartner Magic Quadrant) to help customers to visualize their problems and to facilitate strategic planning. The problem is that consultants use spreadsheets to manage all these data. This becomes ugly quick as the spreadsheets get changes and shared via email.
