Songbox

In another life I spent a few years in the music industry as a recording artist signed to a major label. During that period I learned a lot. One of the things that stuck with me was that when you would send off your music to someone in the industry, they almost never got back to you. I spoke to some very major artists who even experienced the same thing, so I knew it was a real problem. Fast forward several years and I have built Songbox. Songbox lets you share music privately and securely and gives you amazing analytics on engagement eg who listened, to what tracks and for how long. Songbox is now used by Grammy winning artists and multi platinum producers, as well qs major record label, management agencies, Ivy League universities and even music industry superstar Bryan Adams liked the product so much that he is now a co-founder. Any questions... I'm all ears.

As a former music producer, I love this, that's so useful! In your roadmap, you mention the feature to require people to enter an email address to listen to a track, I think that's something you should add as soon as possible, because that's such a great idea.

I’d love to know how this is private. It seems that the songs are uploaded to your servers so you (app devs) have the ability to view and play? If that’s the case this would be more valuable with e2ee and oss. However I do like the idea and the analytics overall. I’m just concerned that this doesn’t really solve the problem and at least if you send someone music directly you know that only they could have shared it with someone else. Would be great to know your thoughts here.

Congratulations on your launching. Let me be honest. As a person who shares the music, I would like to collect analytics data. However as a person who receives the music, I would like not to be tracked at all. For example, I do not want my friend who shared me a private music link tells me that “Hey man, I know you still not open the music I sent you. Why not?”. It will be embarassed. I understand that analytics data is helpful for having better service. However tracking is still tracking. And I do not like to be struggled in an embarrassing situation. How does Songbox resolve it?
