Hi, I'm the product guy at Smartcat behind this Figma plugin. @kevin, thanks for hunting us! Just a bit more context from me: Smartcat Translator is a small but mighty Figma plugin that we're really proud of! It packs a lot behind what appears to be a very simple interface. Figma is a great tool and is popular among our clients who do product localization. They would frequently ask for a way to start localizing Figma designs even before developers start implementing these designs in code. Interestingly, Figma, for all its worldwide popularity, has never implemented a native way to work with multilingual designs. So we accepted the challenge. We looked into existing translation plugins for Figma and thought we could come up with something better – more powerful yet much easier to use. Other plugins tended to create translated copies of designs — copies of frames, or entire pages — which is fine for a quick preview, but becomes a nuisance when it comes to iterating on designs. We decided to make a plugin that natively blends the process of design with validating it in multiple languages. This way you can switch between languages in designs, make layout changes, then switch between languages again to see the results. It's one of Smartcat’s most complex integrations, but I believe we managed to pack it all in in a delightfully simple UI. I'd love to hear what ProductHunt community has to say about it.
