What inspired me to build SlideControl? As a developer working with church communities and educators, I saw the frustration of presenters stuck with outdated tools during remote events—laggy screen shares, lost clickers, and no way to integrate dynamic content like Bible verses. Traditional solutions like Google Slides or PowerPoint lacked real-time sync and customization for live worship or lectures. I started with a simple FastAPI backend for slide control, but evolved by adding OAuth authentication, multi-language Bible data (from KJV to Portuguese NVI), and a React frontend for mobile-friendly access. The process involved iterating on user feedback from beta testers in churches, adding features like custom uploads and SEO optimization.
