Hey Product Hunt! 👋

I’m excited to share something I’ve been working on for a while: Simple Photo Gallery - a free, open-source tool that makes it super easy to turn any folder of photos into a beautiful, fast, and mobile-friendly web gallery.

I started building this out of frustration with how difficult it is to share vacation photos and pictures of our son with friends and family. There was no tool that let me create a shareable web gallery with a great mobile experience, the ability to add detailed descriptions, and no login required.

I launched the initial version 5 years ago, and it got some traction (200+ ⭐ on GitHub). Today, we’re launching a more modern, much faster, and better-looking version!

Features

📸 Automatically scan folders and subfolders
📱 Generate galleries that work great on all devices
📝 Show descriptions for photos and videos
📂 Divide the gallery into sections to tell a story
🎥 Play videos directly in the gallery
🖼️ Create optimized thumbnails for fast loading
⚡ Optimized to be fast and lightweight
🔧 Generate a static HTML gallery that you can self-host

It takes about one minute and two commands to create a gallery. You can then host it on any static provider—Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, or GitHub Pages.

I’d love for you to check it out, give it a spin, and let me know what you think. Thanks for all the support! 😊
