Television is a very personal and emotional space. We are all know-it-alls when it comes to the shows we savor. We're extremely sensitive as it relates to what plays on the real estate of our television screens. TV is precious, sacred and perhaps ceremonial.
As we age, it's these special moments of groundbreaking TV that brand us for life. For me, it was when my siblings and I watched "Star Trek, The Wrath of Khan" - debuting on television in the early 80's. It may have been HBO on a Sunday night. My brother made fun of me because he said I cried when Spock died. I did not, but that's the narrative he pushes at my expense. Why was he looking at me anyway?
Side Street is based on my 15 years of producing TV (https://deforestmapp.carrd.co). Producers and network execs make TV -in short - by trading editorial notes on each episode until you see what eventually airs. It's a very gratifying process, knowing what you're making will eventually entertain millions if not billions. But I believe everyone has a set of those notes - yes you. And they should have a space to live in such a way that keeps the user private and safe.
Side Street's mission is to connect everyone through the power of television, on earth and beyond. What's your favorite show?
