Hey everybody, I'm college student trying to make my internship money last longer than a week. I know this shouldn’t be hard, but every time I try to track my expenses I run into the same two problems: 1. I hate manual tracking 2. I can't analyze my spending by staring at a long list of numbers That’s why I made ShowMeMoney, which uses GPT-4o to help automate the tracking process and graphics to help visualize your spending. This app works great for me, so hopefully it can help you out too! If you want to start saving your time and money, check out ShowMeMoney!

This sounds like a game changer, @matt_t9! 🤔 I'm curious about how ShowMeMoney differentiates itself from other expense trackers already available. Does it offer any specific features that leverage GPT-4o to give insights beyond just tracking? Also, as a college student myself, I’d love to know if there are any upcoming features that could enhance the UX, like budget setting or alerts for overspending. Can’t wait to check it out and see if it really helps with

@elke_qin Thank you! GPT-4o is used for the Smart Add feature. This allows users to turn bank statements, invoices, and plain text, into readable rows in a matter of seconds. GPT-4o is also able to infer categorization based on the input, making tracking even easier. Most expense tracking apps only have features that require you to upload or scan documents, ShowMeMoney lets you copy and paste. Smart Add also let you type expenses faster because it can turn a jumbled input of words and numbers into a perfectly formatted table. Most importantly though, lifetime access costs a fraction of most tracking app’s monthly subscription price. On top of that, I am ready to hear any feedback and implement new features! Currently, you can set a budget, but there are no notifications, since card transactions aren’t tracked. Thanks again!

Excellent idea, Matt. Congratulations on the launch! To me, gathering all the data and pasting it into the tool still might be a time-intensive process- perhaps there is a way this could be done faster?

@aniruddha_j Thank you! I totally get what you’re saying. Personally, the Smart Add feature solves my main pain point and helps me shorten my tracking time from a few minutes to seconds, but it doesn’t completely solve the problem. So it seems like the next step would be to integrate something like Plaid so that users can have their expenses automatically tracked and have the Smart Add feature as a supplement.
