Hi, I'm Ramzi and I make Seam. It launched here in February, and it does a lot more today. You can dictate into any app, and the voice model runs on your Mac, so nothing you say goes to a server. The notch shows when Claude Code and other coding agents finish. It also runs a focus timer, holds files you drop on it and shows your next meeting. You pay $19.90 once for 2 Macs, and the trial runs 48 hours without a card. Tell me what's missing and I'll answer here all day.
The on-device dictation is the detail that stands out for me — I dictate a lot of rough notes and I don't love sending that audio to a server. Same with the one-time $19.90 for 2 Macs instead of another subscription. The Claude Code status in the notch is a nice bonus, but the privacy and pricing is what would get me to actually try the 48-hour trial.
the focus timer in the notch is the bit I'd actually leave on. does dictation keep going if you switch apps mid-sentence?
Telling me when a coding agent has finished, without tabbing back to the terminal, is a small feature that matches how people now work with long-running tools. Keeping dictation on-device is the right default for something that sits above every app. For Macs without a notch, and for people on an external display, does the island still appear somewhere sensible, or is the experience tied to the hardware cutout?
