Years ago, a classmate noticed me struggling to juggle multiple windows. He introduced me to SnappyApp, a game-changer that kept screenshots pinned above everything else. Little did I know, this would spark a productivity revolution. I thanked him. His name was Salem, and we became good friends. Fast forward to OSX 11, and disaster struck. SnappyApp stopped working, and their support team was nowhere to be found. The community scrambled to find a replacement. Then, out of the blue, ScreenHint appeared—open-source software that just worked. It kept my screenshots visible over all my other windows. I could once again keep my design references on screen while writing code, so I wouldn’t have to keep switching windows to remember what I was doing. We all breathed a sigh of relief. Years passed, and one day, out of curiosity, I clicked "About ScreenHint." To my surprise, I saw "Copyright 2021 Salem Hilal." It was my friend Salem again! We reconnected, and I thanked him for giving the world this incredible tool, for free. I've saved countless hours with ScreenHint, and I hope you will too.

When Abhi reached out to me to announce ScreenHint here, it kinda took me by surprise, but it feels like such an obvious thing in hindsight. Over the past few years, I've gotten lots of great feedback from all sorts of folks — students, professors, engineers, even doctors. If you use it and get something out of it, drop me a line.
