Discover, Host & Join Live Sessions! The world is going live. Shared experiences have the power to transform, surprise and delight. If you are passionate about your calling, love engaging with others, and are ready to rise to your destiny, you belong with us.
Hello! I created Scoby Social to discover, host and join shared experiences.
Why?
Because the last eighteen months on social media has been totally bonkers and I’m not interested in watching the big tech machine learning algorithms accelerate our descent into planetary ecosystem collapse by propagating those posts, tweets and streams that are most inflammatory, divisive and rage-inducing.
Scoby Social is what I thought the Internet would be thirty years ago when I started my first tech company.
I thought I would meet fascinating people online and create amazing new cultures that radically shifted my experience of life, love and work.
Instead, it’s become a big hamster wheel.
On this hamster wheel, people who offer very little of value are boosted relentlessly, amassing a vast audience of followers.
Those with tremendous value are rarely seen and heard.
It costs a lot of money to bring together even a modest community. You have to compete to get your message inserted into content streams, constantly change your strategies, clone audiences, build funnels and find new ways to extract more and more value to meet the ever-rising cost of customer acquisition.
It’s almost impossible to efficiently and effectively reach the people who can most benefit from what you have to offer.
So I just figured -- let’s skip all that.
Our serendipity engine is like the ultimate party host.
Say you’re talking about “plate,” or “plate of shrimp” with your friends.
Oprah, our serendipity engine, might introduce you to people talking about cosmic unconsciousness.
Machine learning today can do a lot more than promote body dysmorphia, reinforce filter bubbles and propagate dangerous conspiracy theories that threaten to whiplash our society between autocracy and chaos.
It can gauge sentiment for example.
It can understand how you really feel and connect you with those who can be the most supportive of you in your current state.
Right now our ecosystem on Scoby Social is very primitive. This is what’s known as the cold start.
I have a lot of ideas on how this can evolve and where it can go, but right now I’d rather hear from you.
Post some comments here.
And check out my personal link on Scoby Social: https://app.scoby.dev/links/ELQn
If you’re on a mobile browser and you’ve installed our app, this link will take you directly to my profile.
From there, you can follow me, join my sessions, drop some wisdom and play a vital role in our emerging ecosystem.
Let’s co-create a new world together.
In love,
David
@rahul_dev6 Thank you Rahul! That's an interesting comment -- because one person's signal is another person's noise. Our goal is to take all the inputs then surprise and delight all our members with pure signal based on their intent at that very moment. All signal, zero noise for each member. it's possible!

While it looks quite good, I wonder if it would not know the same fate Clubhouse did. The platform and concept are a bit similar, right?
@rubenwolff Hi Ruben! yes, it's similar to Clubhouse, with a few critical differences.
1. We are really focused on live curation. I loved Clubhouse for about 2 weeks, then it became overwhelming and boring for me. It was all about who was in what rooms, FOMO, crowds and hype. It was a lot of hero worship. We're focusing on what people are saying and their facial expressions -- and working to match members with creators who are likely to be truly helpful and supportive depending on the specific challenges. this can be as simple as "my pipes burst and basement is flooding" and you're connected immediately to a plumber -- or "I think my business partner is stealing from me" and you find conversations where you can explore the issues.
2. Seeing someone's facial expressions make a difference! The way empathy works is that our mirror neurons actually cause us to mirror others expressions. When someone is smiling or concerned, we mimic the expressions then we feel the joy or pain. I believe people will form more lasting relationships this way.
3. You can show people cool stuff! This morning I got a tour of a program in Lagos, Nigeria, a garden in the Philippines and and a home in Zimbabwe! People can take Scoby into the gym for training, skateboarding and all kinds of adventures!
thanks for the great question!

I truly believe that sharing meaningful experiences will always help us to enrich and to discover ourselves better! Great idea and product!
Thank you @mircea_oprea ! I believe Scoby will become an essential ecosystem for talent management.
Why go through so many steps in LinkedIn or Upwork to finally connect with someone?
When I was hiring for a recent member services role I invited a large group onto Scoby and I was able to get a real sense for each person immediately based on how they interacted with each other.
Once we get Oprah, our serendipity engine, going you’ll be able to draw a crowd of candidates right on Scoby!
@alex_briukhovetskyi1 Many thanks, Alex! Our plan is to stay on a more organic growth trajectory so we build a healthy co-creation ecosystem -- rather than raising a gazillion dollars and centering on celebrities and influencers!
Since I don't see any other option than mobile apps I assume you're interested in my personal data to be found there. Can you provide a non-legalese TLDR of what you collect and how you plan to profit from it?
Love this idea and you explain very well a problem some of us see rising more and more for years! I will follow your project with interest, thank you for bringing that to the world!
@johan_bavaud thanks Johan! I appreciate your encouragement. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Martin Luther King, Jr.”
