Hi Product Hunters. I built this English to Russian dictionary that aims to provide comprehensive information for each word that the user is looking up. šŸ¤” Problem I was taking an intensive Russian language course in Kyiv, Ukraine last year for a few months and realized that it was really difficult to look up definitions of Russian words. Sure, Google Translate and Yandex Translate (along with various other random dictionary websites) gave you a definition of the word just fine, but I couldn't find one that was comprehensive where it would give me literally everything I needed to know about the word like declensions, imperatives, conjugations, common/proper attributes of a noun, perfective/imperfectiveness of a verb, and etc. When I was learning Spanish prior to that, I found SpanishDict (http://www.spanishdict.com) to be immensely useful because it would provide a comprehensive result for each word I was looking up. I wanted something similar for the Russian language, which didn't exist for some reason. I found this to be very odd, since Russian is a major world language and one of the official languages of the United Nations. There were third party dictionary websites for sure, but I found all of them to be incomplete and the design to cause an eye-sore. āš’ Solution The solution was to build a SpanishDict equivalent for the Russian language. I actually gave up learning Russian after those few months (it was too hard), so I had to hire a teacher, not to learn how to speak it, but to learn how the language works. I then looked up places on the web where I could get a bunch of words loaded into my database, and then structured the words, sentences, declensions, conjugations, and etc. to mirror Russian systematically. I then added a search input on top of that data and here we have RussianDict. šŸ“‹ Status This is a work in progress. I currently have translators going through all of the words to verify correctness and improve definitions. The goal is build something comprehensive like SpanishDict but for the Russian language. This is turning out to be a larger project than I had originally thought, but the first iteration of my attempt at this is up on the web. Let me know what you guys think!

RussianDict is as simple as it gets; a modern take on a web based English - Russian dictionary that's intended to help learners of the Russian language. I am travelling to Russia soon and I really wanted to learn the Russian language before my trip and so far RussianDict has been really helpful. I'm sure I'll be using it a lot over there !
