What’s up, PH community! My name is Dustin, and I’m the founder of Rocket Note, a new Chrome extension for taking notes on YouTube. YouTube is a big part of how I taught myself how to code (among 100 other things). The problem I had was that unless I was coding along with the videos, I never remembered what I learned, what video I learned it from, or at what point in that video I learned it. We developed a way to take timestamped notes that will take you back to that specific point in the video when clicked. We have a ton of other features in the works, but this is just the beginning! We’ve already seen Rocket Note used to: - annotate professors’ lectures - get better at video games - bookmark music - jump to recipe steps - bookmark workout ideas for later - remember skateboarding tricks and tips - a ton more. We’re giving it away to PH family members for 50% OFF for life! :) Just follow any link to the Rocket Note site from this page (feel free to use this one: https://getrocketnote.com/), download the extension, and then head to https://getrocketnote.com/pricing and select either “Unlimited Monthly” or “Unlimited Yearly”. The coupon will be automatically applied but will no longer be available after July 10th. If you have any other questions or just want to chat about what we’re doing, reach out to dustin@straighttoweb. Thanks for your time, and we hope to hear from you all soon!

I like your MVP, and although I didn't know I wanted something like this, I now realize that sharing my favorite moments from youtube is easier when I can remember where they are. Especially on howto videos. I need to remember that one part of the video of how to install subflooring for example. I can't wait to try this out.

@eric_blanch thanks Eric! We’ve found this to be the hardest part of our market so far. The thought of “I wish I could take notes or save my spot on this video” hasn’t really crossed many minds. But it saves lives once it because part of your daily learning workflow!
Looks interesting and is very useful. A friend @piyush_santwani made something similar a while back - https://www.producthunt.com/post...

@jitesh_dugar That’s interesting! It looks like we had fairly similar early design choices as well (unobtrusive to YouTube’s existing UI). Being able to save notes that are timestamped and clickable seems like a big differentiator. We’re also focusing more at this point on exporting notes, being able to share video snippets, and much more functionality to come!
