What do you think? …

Impressive. This would have been super useful when I was learning to play the guitar. Here's Free Bird. It even works with Childish Gambino. 😊
Mohamed Said
@rrhoover Yeah, I used to search online for hours to find the chords of a song I love.
Matt Gibson
@rrhoover Yea it's pretty good, some of the chords are a bit inaccurate - should be a D rather then the F#m for Free Bird
Bryan Murphy
@mattkgibson @rrhoover Thanks Matt. All the chords are detected automatically. We plan on introducing an editing feature with which users will be able to edit the detected chords and share their edits with the community, increasing Riffstation's accuracy over time. I hope you'll help us!

Hideous design, but works pretty well and that's what really matters.
Bryan Murphy
@ohadisohad :-) Yeah, we've a big design overhaul in the pipeline. Glad you like it! If you're an iOS man, you may prefer the look of our iOS app: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/... ;-)
Simon Ouderkirk
This is really, really rad. It looks pretty accurate - can't wait to see banjo added!
Bryan Murphy
@saouderkirk Thanks Simon. The banjo's actually a fairly popular request so it'd be high on our list of instruments for the future!

Can be compared to the Mac/iOS app called "Capo" which automatically detects guitar, bass, mandolin, ukulele or 5-string bass chords for all your songs in your music library http://supermegaultragroovy.com/...
Bryan Murphy
@jydesign We actually recently came out with a free iOS app of our own. You can check it out here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/... In regards to working with your own music library, you can load any audio file into desktop app(www.riffstation.com) and see the chord diagrams synced with the music, slow down the tempo or adjust the pitch, isolate or mute lead instruments, sync a metronome, loop, etc. Riffstation basically all started with our desktop app. Our chord detector was just one of many features but the response has been incredible since we started experimenting with it in conjunction with youtube videos.
Tom Charde
Very nice. For years, I've been hoping that ultimate-guitar.com would do something like this. What are the benefits to signing up / creating an account?
Bryan Murphy
@tomcharde ] Thanks Tom! Creating an account allows you to collect songs in a personal songbook and process new songs that have not yet been run through our chord detector. Songs listed with the 'get chords' option are unprocessed songs. Songs listed with the 'play' option are previously processed songs that are ready to go!
Noam Avigdor
Don't have my piano with me, but it seems it makes quite a lot of mistakes. How does it work?
Bryan Murphy
@navigdor Hi Noam. Riffstation uses automatic chord detection technology that basically "listens" to the music and works out the chords for you. Our chord detector was designed with rock/pop music in mind so more complicated genres will throw it. Also, because the whole process is automatic, it will inevitably make some mistakes. We're really excited about introducing community chord editing to help improve on our accuracy!
Joshua Dance
Very cool. Community chord editing will be huge.
Bryan Murphy
@joshdance Cheers Joshua. Yeah, we can't wait!
