Thank you @gustaf for hunting us! Hello Product Hunt, and thank you for taking the time to check out what we have built. We're Aimee and Mike, founders of REPROSENT (www.reprosent.com). What it's all about: REPROSENT helps cancer patients track their daily symptoms with an app and uses this data to produce reports that are sent to their oncologists. Today, up to half of patient symptoms are missed during treatment leading to poorer outcomes and lowered quality of life. REPROSENT supplies this key missing information, enabling the oncologist to provide better care. Proven results: In 2016, Sloan Kettering released a study that showed that integrating Patient Reported Outcomes, like the symptoms we track, can lead to a 20% increase in survival. Since that time there have been multiple studies showing the value of Patient Reported Outcomes yet including the patient - the only ones who are living their disease - in clinical care is not happening. Why we are building this: In 2020 Aimee lost her father to a preventable adverse reaction to his cancer treatment. While this system didn't exist in time to help him, the intention is to help other patients and their families achieve more of their goals during treatment. How you can help: We are looking forward to engaging with you on your thoughts and comments. We are currently in beta in the US and available to patients primarily through clinical trial, but are offering the opportunity for paid participation to a limited number of patients if you know someone that would benefit. Our goal is to move deliberately, get this right, and eventually offer the ability for all cancer patients to contribute meaningfully to their treatment. Thank you for your support!

Yay congratulations, Team REPROSENT! When I worked in oncology during nursing school, I was always surprised by how patients often lacked control of their own data. This is going to be a huge for patients and healthcare providers!
Aimee DeGolyer
@anthony_scarpone_lambert thank you for your support! We can't wait for this to become the norm for patients and their care teams.

I love this idea and love how you're putting the power of data in the hand of patients! ?makers how do you handle HIPAA? (Someone had to ask 😛) What kind of PHI information do you collect and how do you manage it from the backend?
Aimee DeGolyer
@andrew_tsao thank you for asking the question! The interesting thing about HIPAA is it is supposed to help patients keep their information safe and in their control, however, the way that HIPAA is thrown around it is often implemented so information is being held "so safely" that patients don't have access to their own information. On our platform patients are in control of their data - they choose to collect and share it how it will benefit them. When a patient chooses to send their data to their oncologist or a loved one - that is well within HIPAA compliance. In terms of the backend, all data is stored on HIPAA compliant servers - @mike_sample1 - care to elaborate?
Mike Sample
@andrew_tsao, good question. We take patient privacy very seriously. Our HIPAA compliance adheres to the regulatory guidance provided regarding specific PHI, that is, we ensure encryption "at rest" and "in flight". No patient data is ever stored on development laptops and all persisted data, whether stored on S3, RDS or other AWS HIPAA compatible services is fully encrypted and the same applies to all transmission of data between all services, including client communications. Access and handling of data is done only when authorized and prepared for the patient themselves. All other access to data used for system analytics or monitoring is de-identified.
