Hello everyone 👋 Quantara started from a simple observation. While working as an engineer, I spent a lot of time doing risk assessments. At the same time, I’ve always been interested in financial markets and how they function. That intersection sparked an idea: What if you could trade risk itself? That’s how Quantara was born. 🚀 What is Quantara? Imagine a stock market - but instead of company stocks, you see live probabilities. That’s what Quantara does. We measure in real time a real-world uncertainty/risk and turn it into a number - the Pulse - which updates as new data comes in every couple of seconds. Then you can trade on it: Think the risk is too low? → buy Think it’s too high? → sell So the Pulse is like the “price,” but for likelihood instead of value. 🔍 How it works On Quantara, you trade contracts called “Covers.” Instead of being tied to a company, each Cover is tied to a real-world event or risk. Their value is driven by the Pulse - so as the probability changes, the market moves. 🧪 Current experiment Right now, everything is in simulation - no real money involved. For the first version, I’m focusing on one use case: ➡️ The probability of late deliveries in logistics The goal is to see whether a market can effectively price this kind of real-world uncertainty. But also to test and challenge the mechanics of the platform (there are 100% some bugs). 🙌 Looking for early testers I’ve built a working prototype and I’m looking for 5–10 people to help test it and simulate real market behavior. With too fewer participants, prices become too volatile - so having a small group is important to make the experiment meaningful. 🛠 How to participate Coordination happens via Discord There’s a simple frontend for trading You’ll need a Discord account to join 💭 Why I’m building this I believe this opens up a completely new way to think about markets. Instead of trading companies, you trade the measured and quantified version of what might happen in the real world. I’m not aware of anything quite like this - and I’m curious to see where it can go. I built Quantara because operational risks - late deliveries, supply disruptions, industrial failures - move billions every day but have no financial instrument attached to them.
