Hey Product Hunt — I’m Emanuel, the founder of Pretone. Pretone started very practically. back in the day, I was building websites for local businesses and doing a lot of cold calling — electricians, plumbers, salons, clinics. I’d make dozens, sometimes hundreds, of calls a day. And every single call began the same way: silence, beeps, or some generic ringback tone that felt awkward and forgettable. What stuck with me was this: this was the moment when the caller was most engaged and fully focused to pickup — they had already decided to reach out — yet it carried zero identity, zero trust, and zero intention. I couldn’t unsee that. Instead of thinking about “hold music” or post-pickup experiences, I focused on the pre-pickup moment — before the call is answered. Pretone was built to treat that moment as a brand introduction. Pretone uses AI to generate short, realistic music — not aggressive jingles — that sounds professionally produced and human. The music eases in calmly, mentions the business by name, and sets the tone without trying to sell or interrupt. The goal was never to be loud or promotional, but to feel legitimate, confident, and intentional. While building this, one rule guided everything: if it added friction, it didn’t ship. No new phone systems. No hardware. No changes to how calls are handled. Pretone installs directly on existing phone numbers and can be turned on or off instantly. Pretone is my attempt to reclaim an overlooked moment and make the first seconds of a call actually mean something. I’m excited (and a bit nervous) to finally share it here.
