Hi Product Hunt πŸ‘‹ About a year ago, I realised my favourite screenwriting apps weren't free or cross-platform. So I decided to make one that was: Porcupine, a distraction-free screenwriting web app, designed to be approachable to everyone. Features include: - Automatic formatting - Drag and drop scene rearranging (just added as of v0.4!) - Autocomplete for names and scenes (just added as of v0.4!) - Stats (e.g. word count, lines per character, average scene duration, etc.) - Easy export as Fountain or PDF files - Dark mode - Support for Windows, Mac, Chromebook and Linux, no downloads or sign-ups required In line with my goal of making it accessible to all, Porcupine is a free and funded entirely by donations. If you find my app useful, please consider making a donation or sharing my app around. Thank you :)
This is looks really nicely done! Congrats! I don’t do a lot of screenwriting myself πŸ˜… but seems very useful for those that do!

@timobechtel Thank you! Well if you ever decide to get more into it, you know which app to use!! :)
@digitallyoli Yes I do! πŸ˜„

Great project, Oli! It really looks well thought out and well made. I hope you keep working on it and people donate to keep the project afloat.

@simonas_kauzonas That's very kind of you, thank you! :)

Love the aesthetics! It was fun to play around with it, and I found the guides in the example text to be helpful. If there was a guide on screenwriting jargon and how to typically read a screenplay, it would be even better for a newbie like me
Oli
@shananigans Thank you so much, that's great to hear! Really good point, I'll be sure to add something like that
Shanz
@digitallyoli thank you!! Looking forward to playing around w it again :)

Congrats on the launch of Porcupine! It's great to see a free and cross-platform screenwriting app. The automatic formatting, drag and drop scene rearranging, and autocomplete features are really useful. Plus, the dark mode and easy export options make it even more convenient. Do you have any plans to add collaboration features in the future, so multiple writers can work on a script together?
Oli
@jing_li10 Thank you! Yes, I think that would be a really useful feature and do plan to add it eventually. No timelines yet, but hopefully not too far in the distance!

love how easy it is to jump in and edit. I had a bit of trouble getting the character name to format into the middle of the screen, but otherwise worked nicely. Awesome you're giving it away, while Final Draft costs $200. Congrats on the launch! πŸš€
Oli
@jonnymiles Thank you so much! Glad to hear it you found it easy to use. I'll be sure take a closer look at the character name issue ASAP :)
