The logo looks quite similar to Digg:
@rrhoover probably that was the idea :)
@rrhoover Actually I really miss the old digg, so yeah inspiration is certainly from the old digg (not like the new one) which is also the reason why I've build this. What I'm trying to do is create something that is like the old digg, but with some more modern ways of keeping it clean from spammy posts. Commenting and users will be added soon.
There are plenty of apps and services that just let you add your favorite blogs and keep up with their feeds, but what about some aggregators that help you discover new and interesting news, things you wouldn't have found on your own? Here's a news aggregator that delivers curated news experience. Popularr is a complete news aggregator that will keep you aware of the latest news from all possible areas of interest. Go check out Popularr.com
I like the clean look of the website. Sometimes, I have no idea what to read online, Popularr looks like a great option for those times.
Curious to know how the news is curated by humans or πŸ€– ?! πŸ™Š
@gadgick Hi' I'm the dev :-) It's actually curated by real humans beings, and in old digg style this will open up to others as well. Users will be added through an invite system.
@rijnbeek Thanks for confirming πŸ‘ I only ask as I curate calendarfor.tech and that's curated by good old humans πŸ™‰
@gadgick Humans are the best ;-)
I'm a news junkie so I have to say I was skeptical this would be of any value to me (I too miss the old Digg by the way). I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised. Once I stumbled into the tech section I realized that, once user curation gets introduced, this could really become another great tool to find stories not reported in the MSM. A great example is the Win 10 design refresh leaks. Nobody in MSM tech has recently pushed an article on this (except TheVerge). Clearly shows the extent of Microsoft commitment to improving desktop soft. design.
@luqven Nice words :) Thanks. User creation will be up and running soon (before next weekend), and will be in 2 tiers, one for voting and the other for voting, commenting and submitting links. This is for 2 reasons, scaling and keeping the spam away. Although we do need to figure out how we can get some proper curators on to the site, so if anyone has any suggestions :) we're open to it :)
