@bramk That out of nowhere party horn and the violently thrown confetti made me laugh too hard.
Loved the concept from the very first second that I saw it. From a hardware engineering point of view Google's Project Ara has a lot of interesting tidbits:
- electo-magnetic tile lock mechanism
- hot-swap functionality
- an independently running skeleton, so that you won't have to power down the phone, even if you want to swap out essential parts, such as the processors or the battery
This added layer of complexity on the hardware side — by providing a bus system, power connectors etc. for all tiles — and on the software side is just amazing.
While other companies try to simplify their products or their products range, Phonebloks / Project Ara actually want to make complexity accessible. Can't wait!
